The 2011 BMW G650GS is based on the F650GS platform and becomes the entry-level member of the GS line of adventure bikes.
The G650GS is powered by a 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with double overhead camshafts. According to BMW, the engine delivers 48hp at 6500rpm and 44 ft-lb. at 5000rpm (with a reduced-power version available in some markets to comply with local regulations).
The chassis is similar to that of the F650GS with a steel double cradle frame, off-road tuned suspension and single-brake discs. ABS is available as an option, and it can be turned off for off-road riding.
Stylistically, the G650GS gets a new look featuring BMW’s tendency for asymmetrical headlights.
BMW is also offering the G650GS in three different seat heights, the standard 30.7 inches, a low-slung 29.5 inches and a higher 32.3 inches.
The G650GS will join the also announced R1200R in BMW’s presentation at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Until then take a look at our 2011 BMW G650GS gallery.
